Celta Vigo 4-3 Barca: Ter Stegen downplay Catalans

Barcelona were handed their second defeat of the current La Liga campaign after going down 4-3 to Celta Vigo in Sunday's encounter staged at the Balaídos stadium, no thanks to Ter Stegen's costly mistake.

A repeat of last season’s 4-1 was on the cards as Celta Vigo destroyed Barcelona in just 45 minutes to lead the champions 3-0 at half-time courtesy of goals from Sisto, Aspas and an own goal by Mathieu.

And just when it seemed as though that heavy defeat could be averted following early second half efforts from Pique and Neymar, Hernandez confirmed the victory with a 77th minute strike despite a late scare caused by Pique's second on the night.

Andres Iniesta bagged his 600th Barca appearance from the the bench, as three other changes saw Arda Turan take up ’the Messi role’, Jeremy Mathieu in at centre-back and Paco Alcacer dropped to the bench.

Despite the defeat, Barcelona retain fourth spot on the table, two points behind rivals Real Madrid who dropped points at home against Eibar earlier on Sunday.
